This 16 Watt unit can treat up to 12 litres per minute of water, and is suitable for a small bach, a farm outbuilding or even an off-grid hut in the bush. It can be used to purify harvested rainwater, bore water or direct from a stream/river.

This small 16 Watt system uses 3 stage filtration:

Stage 1: Sediment filtration – this is where particles of dirt, decaying leaves, rust and scale are captured.

Stage 2: Activated Carbon – this is called a CTO filter Chlorine, Taste and Odour. It removes a wide range of undesirable chemicals such as Chlorine, while retaining most of the healthy minerals. See here for more detail on what carbon filters remove.

Stage 3: Ultraviolet filtration – the water passes through a stainless steel reactor which contains a germicidal UV lamp. The UV light kills up to 99.9% of harmful microorganisms including viruses, bacteria like E. coli and salmonella, algae and fungi. See here for more information on UV water treatment.
